"The 2004 USA Surf Team is a true representation of the United States' best amateur surfers," said Mike Gerard, Surfing America's executive director. "We're confident this talented group of athletes will clearly send the message that America is back!"
The 2004 USA Surf Team selection process involved athletes from the following top amateur organizations in the United States: the Eastern Surfing Association (ESA), the National Scholastic Surfing Association (NSSA), and the Texas Gulf Surfing Association (TGSA). Per United States Olympic Committee guidelines, all USA Surf Team members are United States citizens.
OFFICIAL 2004 USA SURF TEAM ROSTER
The following athletes are named to the 2004 USA Surf Team and are listed alphabetically by division. There is no ranking of athletes once they are on the USA Surf Team. The yet-to-be-announced USA Surf Team coaching staff is responsible to determine which athletes will compete on an event-by-event basis and Surfing America reserves the right to add professional athletes to this Roster for ISA World events as needed.
The USA Surf Team is an ongoing, developmental program. The USA Surf Team, selected each year, will participate in organized training sessions and programs during their term as a USA Surf Team member.
