Sasha La Rochelle is a true renaissance girl. Not only does she rip at skating, but she also snowboards, plays a ton of musical instruments, and is a published writer. All this, and she’s only 16! Sasha will be featured in this month’s “Chat with a Pro Skater,” on the message boards, so if you have any questions for Sasha, please e-mail them to sgweb@primedia.com.

Birthday: January 5, 1988
Hometown: Santa Rosa, California
School: “I do independent study through a charter school. It’s more flexible because my teacher knows that I’m traveling a lot, so I can’t always get my schoolwork done by the due date. They are more open to it and don’t get frustrated.”

How did you get into skating?
When I was about five years old, my stepdad found an almost brand-new skateboard at the county dump, because he worked there. So he brought it home and I started skating.
What have you been up to in 2004?
I did Slam City Jam, the Triple Crown finals, and some slalom contests. I also did a high-jump contest. It was my first time doing an event like that, and I won.
What trick feels the best when you land it?
Airwalk finger-flip. It’s also one I get hurt a lot doing.
