"Dying in Stereo," Northern State

This trio of white girls from Brooklyn are bringing back old-school rap in a whole new way. Coined as the next female Beastie Boys, Northern State creates funny, smart lyrics with a simple beat. Dying in Stereo has clever references to ’80’s TV show characters like Alex P. Keaton (Michael J. Fox from “Family Ties”), decades-old cartoons like “Snoopy,” and plenty of political satire—all uniquely crafted together with a special flow.
Even though the lyrics don’t always make sense, Dying in Stereo is a catchy CD, and these Long Island ladies prove that friendship and a mic is all you need to make a fresh album. Who needs logic when you’ve got beats like these?
