Friday night, October 29, I was offered a chance to see Megadeth live at the Palladium, with legendary metal artists Exodus opening up. So, after work, pro surfer Josh Sleigh and myself hopped in the truck and took off to Hollyweird. Two full traffic-filled hours, innumerable curse words, two photo stickers, and three wristbands later, we were in.
What we were about to see made the drive totally worth it.
It was at the bag check that you could just hear the guitars wailing…and feel the hair standing up on the back of your neck. We were in for a bad-ass show, and sure enough this 18-and-up show was rockin’. It turned out to be a great live act. Some good new songs along with some awesome old ones thrown in -- this was Megadeth at their best.
Putting feelings to words is hard, especially to think how we were so amped when we were there. This was metal at its finest, with solo leads and the same "flying Y" guitar that we love so much. Megadeth backs up their strong leads with thought-provoking lyrics that cut just as deep.
Truth be told, this was a sick show. Megadeth has always been and always will be at the top of the metal food chain. Any chance you get to see them, I would strongly suggest you check ‘em out. At the very least, run to the record store and stock up on their new album, The System Has Failed Us.
Frontman Dave Mustaine, still razor sharp.
